The island needs your help in this cooperative board game!

Powerful spirits have lived on this isolated island since time immemorial. They are part of the natural world and at the same time something supernatural. Local inhabitants, the Dahan, have learned to live alongside the spirits, but with a healthy dose of caution and respect. The island has now been “discovered”, however, by invaders from a faraway land. These so-called colonists take over the land and disturb the natural balance, destroying the presence of the spirits in their path. As spirits you must develop your powers and work together to drive the invaders from your island before it is too late!

Who plays Spirit Island?
Are you a fan of cooperative games such as Legends of Andor and Paleo, but looking for something a little more complex and challenging? Then you might really enjoy Spirit Island. The base game alone is already highly variable with its many different spirits and random factors. Let alone when you add more extras such as specific adversaries and higher difficulty levels. Spirit Island is rated extremely highly in the BoardGameGeek game rankings, so for fans of cooperative games it is not a question of whether you want to play it, but rather when!

How do you play Spirit Island?
In Spirit Island you try together to make sure the invaders do not overrun the island. Each round consists of 5 different phases, in which different things happen. Within each phase the players play at the same time, and may discuss freely. Talking at the table is not only allowed, but usually also necessary to win.

In the spirit phase the spirits grow, gain energy and may play power cards. In the second phase the players resolve fast powers, and in the third phase it is the turn of the invaders controlled by the game. They send out their explorers, ravage the land and build various settlements. Once they are done, the spirits resolve their slow powers. In phase 5 the players prepare for the next round.

At the start of the game the invaders are at terror level 1. They are not afraid of the island and probably don't even know the spirits exist. To win, you must rid the island of invaders completely. By earning fear cards you reach new terror levels with simpler victory conditions. If you meet the current victory condition at any moment, you win immediately. The invaders have then taken more than they can handle and leave the island all together. You can lose in 3 ways: too much land has been ravaged, a spirit has been destroyed or time has run out. Try to prevent that together and save the island!

Expansions and variants
Spirit Island has been on the market in languages other than Dutch for some time. Several expansions have therefore already appeared. They are not available in Dutch, but can be combined with the Dutch base game. We hope to publish these expansions in Dutch in the future too, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee or promise anything.
