Cascadia - Board game (Dutch edition)

For those who love to wander in nature and have a big heart for animals, there is the board game Cascadia. Cascadia is a nature-rich region in the west of North America. This region contains many different kinds of nature, with different kinds of animals in each area. The nature reserve borders the Rocky Mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other.

In the game Cascadia players must create a varied natural habitat that is liveable for the different animals of the game. The animals found in the region are: grizzly bears, Roosevelt elk, Chinook salmon, red-tailed hawks and red foxes.

The game consists of different kinds of tiles, including nature area tiles and habitat tiles. With these tiles players can create their own nature reserve. Certain animals can live on each tile, depending on the type of area shown. On your turn you take a combination of tile and animal from the offer and place it in your play area. While putting together the nature reserves you have to take into account the number of animals and how these animals connect to each other. Different points are awarded for each different shape or group size.

The player who has found the perfect balance between animal and nature after twenty rounds may call themselves the winner of Cascadia. The number of points each player receives depends on how well you have met the needs of the animal species and the habitats you have created in your play area.

Besides the base game, Cascadia also includes a solo variant. In the solo variant the rules are adjusted so that the game can be played by one person.
