This meant applying layers of varnish and taking the boxes of finished toy ducks to the train station for shipping. Back in the workshop, Godtfred proudly tells his father that he has done something very clever and saved the company money.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"How did you manage that?\" asks Ole Kirk.\u003cbr\u003e\"I gave the ducks only two layers of varnish, not three like we normally do,\" is Godtfred Kirk's reply.\u003cbr\u003eHis father reacts promptly:\u003cbr\u003e\"You go and get those ducks right now, give them the last coat of varnish, pack them up and take them back to the station!
